Holiday temperature settings for your hot water cylinder
To minimise energy costs when going on holiday it is recommended to set the maximum hot water temperature to 58 deg C and the minimum temperature to 10 deg C. The lower 'minimum temperature' will insure that grid energy is not used to heat the hot water.
Electricity may be imported for the purpose of sterilising hot water. This will be minimised through the use of Solar Energy and the variable appliance controller's 'boost' setting.
When returning from holiday increase the minimum temperature to the original setting. Since the water will already be heated via solar the amount of electricity needed to reheat the cylinder will be minimised.
N.B. This recommendation is for where the PowerGenius Variable Appliance Controller is used for hot water heating in conjunction with a Solar PV system.
